State of Emergency

We just saw Hurricane Hilary hit Disneyland in California recently, and now Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to affect Disney World this week. Late last week Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency.

This week will no doubt be a rainy week for guests visiting Florida and Walt Disney World. Prepare with ponchos or rain gear, stroller covers, and a flexible plan during the wetter seasons. This is especially true during the summer and hurricane season.

Walt Disney World posted the following statement today, August 28th at 3:00 pm“Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our guests and Cast Members.”

New Weather Alert

Idalia is not a hurricane yet, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have time to become one before hitting Florida. Over the weekend, a hurricane watch was issued for Florida – from Tampa to the panhandle on the west coast.

Right now, Tropical Storm Idalia is moving northeast but is not expected to make landfall in Florida until late Tuesday/early Wednesday.

At approximately 5:00pm today, the National Weather Service upgraded Orlando from a Tropical Storm Watch to a Warning. A Tropical Storm Warning means conditions are expected within 36 hours. We will be sure to keep you updated with any further news regarding Idalia.

Orlando is under a Tropical Storm Warning.

Are you planning to visit Walt Disney World for Labor Day? Will this Tropical Storm affect your travel plans? Please let us know your experience and share this news with someone that may be affected  by the change.
