Disney World is offering a pretty hefty discount for Disney World resorts amid Hurricane Idalia. See if you qualify for this discount.
Hurricane Idalia
Late last week Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency. It’s hurricane season for the state of Florida right now and through the next couple of months. Just yesterday, Tropical Storm Idalia upgraded from a watch to a warning. However, overnight it got upgraded even more.
The National Hurricane Center now categorizes Idalia as a hurricane. Winds crossed over 75mph. Hurricane Idalia is moving north at 14 mph. Right now, it is simply moving north, but later today and tomorrow it is expected to pick up in a north-northeast motion.
The National Hurricane Center expects Hurricane Idalia to move over the eastern Gulf of Mexico today (Tuesday), reach the Gulf Coast of Florida tomorrow (Wednesday), and finally move close to the Carolinas on Thursday.
Evacuation Orders
There are evacuation orders in place, but not for Orange County. However, this may affect your travel since evacuation paths will have all lanes heading north. In addition, you may find your flight postponed or cancelled.
Disney is taking steps to prepare for the hurricane. Earlier today, they notified guests of new precautions to take at Walt Disney World. For more on that, read this post HERE. If you do have plans to vacation this week, be sure to be aware of everything you need to know if you are staying at a resort.
Evacuees and First Responders
If you are a Florida resident who is under an evacuation order or a first responder, we have good news for you. Disney announced that Florida residents evacuating from the storm and first responders assisting in storm-related recovery efforts may also receive 50% off Disney Resort hotel stays on the evenings of Aug. 29-31, 2023.
For evacuees, please call 407-W-DISNEY for details. For first responders, please call 407-828-3200 (Option 3). This applies to new bookings only and is based on availability.
Florida residents evacuating the storm and first responders are eligible for 50% off Disney Resort hotel stays from August 29th through August 31, 2023.
We hope everyone stays safe in the state of Florida this week. Do you have to evacuate or are you a first responder? Will you take advantage of this discount? Let us know in the comments below or share this post with someone who could use this discount.
