Disney’s Grand Floridian has completed their long lobby refurbishment! See all of the photos of the completed refurbishment here.
Disney’s Grand Floridian
Although the Grand Floridian is not the first Disney Resort, it is one of the most well-known. Themed after the Victorian elegance of turn-of-the-century Florida beach towns, the white buildings and red gabled roofs are unmistakable as you enter the Magic Kingdom area.
The resort opened in the summer of 1988 and is home to many restaurants, the Disney Wedding Pavilion, and almost 1,000 rooms. It has become known as Disney’s flagship resort, and it is on the bucket list for many Disney fans despite the high price tag.
Lobby Refurbishment
Last December, Disney announced that the Grand Floridian lobby will undergo a refurbishment to bring it up to speed with the room refresh, new Enchanted Rose lounge, and reimagined Citricos.
If you have visited the Grand Floridian lately, you might have noticed that the experience has not been quite as magical as normal. Construction walls have been up. Noise levels have been elevated with all of the construction noise and as necessary as refurbishments are, they are sometimes quite a bit of an inconvenience.
Grand Floridian Lobby
Before we take a look at the complete refurbishment, let’s take a look at how it looked before. Here in the picture shown above, we can see a large concrete slab next to the elevator. Notice that the piano is also in the middle of the lobby.
Now let’s take a look how the lobby looks like when you are visiting.
Refurbishment Complete
We are happy to see that the long refurbishment of the lobby has been completed. All of the construction walls that were in the lobby have been taken down.
Disney’s Grand Floridian lobby’s refurbishment is now complete!
For the most part, there seems to be no significant change in the look of the lobby. The only difference that stands out is the piano that was in the center of the lobby is now right next to the elevator. The large concrete slab that was once by the elevator has now been completely taken out.
This is nice and allows for better traffic flow in the lobby and gives the lobby a lot more open space.
Despite the walls being taken down in the lobby, the resort’s overall refurbishment is still not complete. You can still see some walls up here as the rooms are still being refurbished.
There is also still a significant amount of work being done outside of the resort. If you are inside, you can still see a number of construction walls up as work continues within the resort rooms.
If you do plan to stay at the resort in the next few months, be aware that some areas of the resort are still undergoing refurbishment. You might still hear some construction noise and have to deal with some continued refurbishments.
