We found out last year that the Hatbox Ghost would be coming soon to Walt Disney World. His debut has been highly anticipated all year long.

At the opening of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, the Hatbox Ghost was located in the attic scene. This character had a special effect: his head would disappear and show up in his hatbox and then would pop back to the top of his head.

Imagineer Yale Gracey designed this addition, but the original Hatbox Ghost only lasted but a few days. The effect wasn’t up to the standard that Gracey wanted for the attraction because at that time the technology wasn’t able to make the trick correctly.

Disney has been teasing us with details of the Hatbox Ghost. Disney shared details about where we will be able to see the Hatbox Ghost a couple of months ago.

The Hatbox Ghost will appear to guests as they pass the Endless Hallway, welcoming himself inside from the swinging wake in the cemetery and grinning at the Doom Buggies as they set off deeper into the mansion.

We were wondering whether or not the debut date would be announced this weekend at D23’s Expo Event. We are so excited to share that Disney has confirmed the Hatbox Ghost will be making his debut in late November.
