Country Bear Jamboree is due for a much needed update. Check out all that we know so far.
Country Bear Jamboree
These lovable bears are the stars of the Disney Parks animatronic show The Country Bear Jamboree. The show is naturally located in Frontierland. The bears play instruments like washboards and jugs as they entertain guests with songs in a saloon style setting.
This attraction was once enjoyed by guests at Disneyland, but it closed in September 2001 to make room for the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction. The Country Bear Jamboree was an opening day attraction for the Magic Kingdom and has delighted guests since 1971.
This attraction has needed an update for quite some time. We now have great news for this opening day attraction.
New Update Announced
Yesterday, Disney announced that Country Bear Jamboree will close to bring a brand new look and vibe for this attraction. The most obvious change will come to the name of this attraction. When it reopens it will be called the Country Bear Musical Jamboree in 2024. One of the most famous “performers” will also receive a new name change.
New images, Disney inspired musical numbers, as well as adding some “love into the attraction and characters” will bring new life to this attraction. Now, former Imagineer, Ethan Reed, shares that this plan is several years in the making.
Back in 2004, the idea for a reimagination of Country Bear Jamboree first started. In 2018, work began to bring an update for the music of this attraction. We love the idea of Disney-inspired songs. This will resonate well with guests both the young and the young at heart.
This work stalled just a bit in 2020 due to COVID. Several years later, we are delighted with this announcment. Former Imagineer Ethan Reed shares, “Even though many of the Imagineers who touched this project are not attached to it anymore, I know some of our creativity will live on in the DNA of this reimagining of this classic Walt Disney World attraction!”
Disney has not shared a closing date for this attraction to begin this transformation. This project has been almost 20 years in the making and we can’t wait to see the new look for this classic attraction.
The new concept idea for Country Beary Jamboree was first pitched back in 2004 by former Imagineer, Ethan Reed.
