An attraction at the Magic Kingdom failed to open today. Here are the details we have so far.
Unexpected Closures
Refurbishments and routine ride maintenance are often planned well in advance at the Walt Disney World Resort. This way Guests can potentially plan around refurbishments or at least manage their expectations if a workaround is not possible.
However, sometimes a ride or attraction simply fails to open for the day. When this is the case, it can be an unpleasant shock for Guests, particularly if it is a favorite attraction they were looking forward to enjoying.
However, these closures have to happen because they do the important job of upholding one of Disney’s 5 Keys: Safety. After all, no one would have much fun at all if we weren’t confident that the rides we enjoy are going to deliver us safely from start to finish!
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
This morning, we headed to The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. It was no surprise that there was not a crowd of Guests lined up to rope drop the experience. However, it was a surprise when the Cast Members present reported they were down and that they had no estimate for their opening.
When we checked back later, there was an even bigger crowd of Cast Members meeting in front of the ride. It remained closed. And as of this afternoon, it is still closed.
When Will it Reopen?
We do not know if or when the Magic Carpets of Aladdin will open today. Cast Members remained unsure of the timeline as well. Hopefully, it will be open in time for those who wish to enjoy it at tonight’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party event.
We also do not know the specific issue with the ride. However, we did not notice any bears hitching a carpet ride, so we are relatively certain that it is not a bear-related closure this time. You can read about the bear incident HERE if you haven’t already heard.
