Review of the famous Blue Ribbon corn dogs before they arrive at Disney World

This location has a big following and is now coming to Walt Disney World. Check out our full review and make plans to dine here soon.

Disney’s Boardwalk

If you have never visited Disney’s Boardwalk, you are missing a true treasure. Disney’s Boardwalk evokes turn-of-the-century boardwalks in coastal cities such as Coney Island and Atlantic City. Disney’s Boardwalk is home to resortsfun entertainment, and plenty of dining choices as well.

This is a fun location to enjoy a Surrey bike ride, grab a quick bite, and enjoy a day outside of the Disney Parks. Disney’s Boardwalk is in a state of transformation.

Much work has taken place at the beautiful Boardwalk Inn with a new coffee shop and refurbished guest rooms as well. This is such a fun place to relax and unwind. It is within walking distance of EPCOT and you can easily hop on the Disney Skyliner or boat transportation to enjoy Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

New Dining Location Announced

Those guests visiting Disneyland have a few more dining options than guests on the East Coast. One of the favorite dining locations is the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs.

At Disneyland, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs offers two locations at both Downtown Disney and also at Disneyland Resort. Soon, Walt Disney World guests can experience these amazing treats. This past July, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs announced that they were expanding to Disney’s Boardwalk.

Their new location will reside in the former Boardwalk To Go stand. An official opening date has not been announced other than “later this year.” Many Disney fans on the West Coast were overjoyed with this news. But what is the real hype over Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs?

Blue Ribbon Company

Before diving into the full review, I (Donna) was intrigued about the company that creates the Blue Ribbon Corn Dog brand. The “Give: a 50/50 Company” not only delivers quality food but also gives back as well.

The company describes its mission statement as, “Working to Give is driven by the 50/50 Principle and a mission to impact the world through a different kind of business — 5O% of the business profits is reinvested for continued growth, 50% is given away to help men and women achieve their God-given potential.”

Currently, they have Fabe’s Churros & Gelatto, California Churro Co., and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Downtown Disney. At Walt Disney World, they are the owners of the Sunshine Churros at Disney Springs.

And as mentioned before, a second location will come to Disney’s Boardwalk with the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs stand.

First Impressions

On a recent trip to Disneyland, I (Donna) wanted to try the famous Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. What is most impressive about this stand is that you can see that each corn dog is individually prepared.

That is right, there are no pre-cooked frozen corn dogs here. Each order starts with a freshly cooked hot dog that is carefully dipped several times in a variety of batters depending on your order.

One thing that makes the Blue Ribbon Corn Dog stand out from the rest is that new menu items are added throughout the year. This is the most recent menu offering at the Downtown Disney location.

Menu Offerings

They have their “Classic Dog” and “Kid Dog” that are always offered. In my opinion, the “Kid Dog” is more of a traditional-sized corn dog, and the “Classic Dog” is quite large.

Many guests visiting Disneyland may know of the famous corn dogs at Corn Dog Castle at Disney’s California Adventure and also at The Little Red Wagon at Disneyland. I (Donna) tried the Classic Dog at Blue Ribbon Corn Dog and found it just as delicious as both stands located in the Disney Parks.

The Classic Corn Dog is priced at $11.50, the Kid Dog is available for $9.50, and all specialty corn dogs are available for $14.50. All corn dogs are also served with a bag of potato chips.

There is also the “Golden Dragon” which is a “Panko encrusted beef corn dog served with a side of sriracha aioli and sweet Thai.” One specialty dog featured is the Giant Jalapeno Popper. This is a “Poblano pepper filled with bacon, cheddar, and cream cheese mixture. Fried in cornmeal batter. Rolled in panko bread crumbs.” Signage indicates that this is only available for a limited time.

What is most impressive about this stand is that you can see that each corn dog is individually prepared.

Pickle Dog Review

Credit: Donna

The “Pickle Dog” is a hot dog placed in a hollowed-out pickle and then dipped in the Panko crust batter. This is served with a peanut butter dipping sauce.

First off, this corn dog is HUGE. Never would I think a fork and knife would be needed with a corn dog, but this is a bit difficult to eat without them. This probably goes without saying, but you have to really like pickles to enjoy the Pickle Dog. Luckily, I (Donna) love pickles and corn dogs, so I was ready to try this fun mashup.

The sourness of the pickle along with the sweet Panko breading was a perfect pairing. I did try the peanut butter dipping sauce but wasn’t a fan. The pairing of the Pickle Dog was pretty perfect all on its own.

Due to the large size of this Pickle Dog, I was not able to finish it which was pretty sad because it was so delicious. This is large enough to split with friends.

The overall vibe of Disney’s Boardwalk is so fun and has the feeling of Coney Island. The Blue Ribbon Corn Dog will be the perfect addition when it finally opens.

What do you think of this new dining location? Have you tried Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs over at Disneyland? Will you stop by and try this when they officially open? Share your thoughts and share this with a fellow Disney pal.
