Select Disney resorts are offering a fantastic freebie right now. Here is everything you need to know to take advantage of some great family fun.

Walt Disney World Resort Benefits

Guests of the Walt Disney World resort who stay in a Disney hotel receive some pretty great benefits. Most people are aware of the Early Entry benefit. Another popular benefit is the complimentary transportation between resort hotels and theme parks.

But, many people overlook some of the best benefits of the Walt Disney World hotels including the monthly Resort Activities. All resorts, for example, offer Movies under the Stars, poolside activities, and campfires with marshmallows to roast. And, right now, select Walt Disney World hotels are offering something that kids and the kid in you will love!

Arcade Tournaments

Each Walt Disney World resort hotel has an arcade where Guests can enjoy playing fun video games and other activities such as air hockey. Typically, this can only be enjoyed at an extra cost. Guests purchase a game card and redeem it for gameplay in the arcades.

However, this summer, select Walt Disney World hotels started offering FREE arcade tournaments for guests during their stay. During the tournament window, participants are allowed to play games for free! The only exceptions are games such as claw machines where kids win physical prizes. The photo booths are also not a part of the tournament.

At the end of the tournament, prizes are awarded. Kids receive FREE arcade cards loaded with 250 credits so they can return to play some more whenever they wish. It can be great fun for kids, especially if they have parents like me who say no to paying extra for video games because so much is included in our stay.

My own (Katie’s) family got to enjoy this at Disney’s All-Star Movies resort. The Cast Member directing the activity said that normally there is a larger group, but since my little ones were the only participants, they got a full hour of free play. And, my littlest traveler was delighted to find out that she could redeem her game card at the photo booth and claw machines filled with little plush animals.

How to Find

If you want to know whether your resort is offering this fun benefit, simply ask the front desk for the monthly activities schedule for your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. You can often find the monthly flyer posted around your resort as well. It will list dates and timeframes for tournaments if they are offered at your resort.

It is important to know that this benefit may not be available at every resort and the dates and times may vary. For example, All-Star Movies offers a daily tournament from 4-5 PM. However, Disney’s Pop Century Resort is currently offering one tournament a week. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, on the other hand, offers a daily tournament with a 30-minute time frame. And, right now Disney’s Beach Club Resort has no tournaments listed for the month. So, be sure to check with your hotel before you start making plans.

We do not know if or when resorts may stop offering this benefit. Be sure to take advantage of it if it is available during your stay, especially if it is offered on a day and time when you don’t have plans in the parks. The kids will love it!
