Disney World Guests have flocked to The Most Magical Place on Earth for the busy holiday weekend. However, they are also running into big Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane Selections this morning.
Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane Selections (ILLS)
What is Genie+? Here is the shortened version: for $15+ per person per day at Disney World, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World like Space Mountain, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and more.
In addition, you can skip the standby line at more popular attractions for an a la carte fee. Those rides include Cosmic Rewind, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Flight of Passage.

Big Issues
With the holiday weekend came the crowds. Genie+ pricing is the highest it has been in quite some time. Animal Kingdom ($16) and Epcot ($18) have the lowest pricing, while Magic Kingdom ($29) and Hollywood Studios ($22) have higher pricing. Guests hoping to park hop will have to pay $29.
But the pricing isn’t the issue here. It’s the fact that Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes ARE NOT working today October 8! Widespread issues with the service are creating errors when Guests try to purchase Genie+ (if they haven’t done so yet) and make selections.
Error Messages
When trying to purchase Genie+ service, the following error reads: “Something went wrong. We were unable to load your selections. Please try again.”
For those that were able to purchase Genie+ BEFORE it broke and are trying to make return times, the following error reads: “Your selections aren’t loading at this time. Please refresh your screen or go back to the previous screen to try again.”
And a push notification reads: “Pardon the Inconvenience. At this time, new selections, purchases or modifications to Disney Genie+ service features are temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
How is Disney resolving the issue?
Disney is clearly aware of the issues this morning and are actively working to fix the issue. In the meantime, they are refunding Guests who have purchased Genie+ this morning. If you are affected by this issue, head over to any blue umbrella in the parks and speak to a Cast Member.
Wait times for most rides are still reasonable, but it is still early in the day. Hopefully the issue is resolved before the majority of Guests make it into the parks. Unfortunately, standby lines are quickly rising for popular rides:
- Space Mountain: 90 minutes
- Test Track: 90 minutes
- Slinky Dog Dash and Rise of the Resistance: 80 minutes
- Flight of Passage: 135 minutes
