Disney fans love their merchandise, but resellers often purchase large quantities only to resell it at a great markup. We noticed a brand new merchandise policy limit and we have mixed feelings about it. What do you think?
Merchandise Limits
As excited as we are for new Disney merchandise, some Guests purchase quite a few Disney items. They may be sharing these with their friends perhaps, or they may be serving as personal shoppers to others.
This can deplete merchandise for other Guests who want to purchase new souvenirs for their personal enjoyment. At Walt Disney World, signs limit merchandise to “2 per item, per Guest.”
These signs were first displayed throughout ALL 4 Walt Disney World Theme Parks back in August 2021. This will apply to all merchandise except snacks and food.
New Merchandise Policy
We noticed the “2 per item, per guest” signage all throughout Walt Disney World, but now a new policy is in place. Recently, while visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios we noticed new signage at all stores selling exclusive Star Wars merchandise.
This includes Tatooine Traders which is at the exit of Star Tours, along with all of the stores and carts located throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The new policy states a “Limit five (5) per item, per guest.”
This is quite the change from the current merchandise limit of “2 items per guest.” It is unclear why just Star Wars merchandise is affected by this new policy change. Perhaps they have a surplus of Star Wars merchandise whereas the other merchandise is more limited.
The new policy states a “Limit five (5) per item, per guest.”
It will be interesting to see if this policy change affects more than just Star Wars merchandise.
What do you think of this change? Do you think this will encourage Disney resellers? Have you experienced the disappointment of finding empty shelves when searching for Disney souvenirs in the past? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
