The Walt Disney Company is celebrating 100 years of magic! Here are all the details for a permanent installation of a gorgeous new statue commemorating the occasion.
Walt and Mickey
Walt Disney once said, “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” And now as the studio he started all those years ago turns 100, fans across the world have plenty to remind us of just that! Walt gave Mickey his shape, his voice, and ever so many adventures. Happily, Mickey has continued to thrive all this time.
The dynamic between Walt Disney and Micky Mouse is something that captivates us all. You can take a look at how it all started if you go to see One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now, you can also catch an emotional glimpse of that dynamic when you watch the beautiful new animated short Once Upon a Studio.
And, of course, that magical Dynamic between Mickey and Walt has been captured through statues at theme parks around the world! You can find it in Partners in Walt Disney World as well as Storytellers in Disneyland.
A New Statue
And, Disney has unveiled another statue to commemorate Disney100! We got a fantastic preview of the Dream Makers statue back in August when it was still a work in progress. You can read about it and see a cool video detailing its backstory HERE.
Dream Makers is located between the Castle of Magical Dreams and Cinderella Carousel in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland. According to Disney Parks Blog, “The statue features Walt is seated with one hand gesturing toward the carousel and the other toward the castle, as Mickey looks at him with delight.”
It really does look as if the two are having a grand conversation. What magic could they be dreaming up together?
Disney Parks Blog also shared a little nugget of information that stirs emotions. “This moment is inspired by the times when Walt would take his two daughters to similar attractions — Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round in Los Angeles — and thought about an ‘amusement enterprise’ idea where children and their parents could have fun together.”
You can see Dream Makers right now in Hong Kong Disneyland!
Do you hope to see this beautiful new statue for yourself someday? Let us know in the comments. And, as always, feel free to share the story with others so they can enjoy it too!
