TRON and Cosmic Rewind are two of the most popular attractions at Disney World. As it stands, you may not be riding either one right now.
Virtual Queues
A virtual queue is a lottery-type system that gives you a boarding group. Once you enter the queue and successfully obtain your boarding group, you go about your day as normal until your boarding group is called.
Then, you can head over to the attraction and enter the Lightning Lane. This can be done through the Disney World and Disneyland apps for any rides that require it.
A virtual queue was first introduced with Rise of the Resistance and was later used for the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Currently, it is in place for TRON, Cosmic Rewind, and Moana Journey of Water.
At various times, Disney continues to offer temporary virtual queues such as to meet Santa at Disney Springs and for big merchandise releases.
Widespread Issue
It’s not common to see technology issues with virtual queues. But, they do happen, and that’s exactly what is going on today, October 19.
For Guests trying to obtain a boarding group for TRON or Cosmic Rewind at 7:00 am, they were met with an error message. After clicking the queue button, a red message pops up at the bottom: Something went wrong. We’re having trouble confirming your selection.
The selection, of course, is the confirm party. We have been checking for the last 30 minutes with no update.
How will Disney fix this?
There’s no guarantee when or if Disney will be able to fix this issue before the parks open this morning. Keep checking! It may pop up when you least expect it.
If you attempted to get the virtual queue but were met with the error message, kindly speak to a Cast Member at the blue umbrellas and show your screenshot. Disney may have a protocol in place on the rare occasion this happens.
Disney does offer another way to experience TRON and Cosmic Rewind. Both are eligible for Individual Lightning Lanes, meaning you can pay an a la carte price for both of these. Cosmic Rewind is $15/person and TRON is $20/person. That is another option.

Absolutely. My decision if I want to stand in line. I’ve done it for years before this pay per ride mess

Totally. Same with Tron. .. just get rid of the virtual que... also the article states that when your boarding group gets called you come back to the lightning lane.... You do not you are just able to join the regular line... Which can be more than 30 minutes.....

I think, cosmic rewind having a queue is ridiculous. That ride is over a year old. I tried the other day at 7 AM my family & I to get in that Q and 30 seconds, It was already gone! This is ridiculous! Let me decide how I want to spend my time in the park. Before a virtual queue was started. I’ve spent 2 to 4 hours in line for rides. Let me decide if I want to spend four hours in line. I want to do it I want to ride a ride and now you’re telling me I can’t ride a ride. That should be my decision not yours.

Cosmic Rewind is over a year old. I tired the other day at 0700 and 30 seconds it was sold out! Ridiculous and frustrating to say the least! If I want to spend my time in a line let me do it!! Don’t tell me I can’t ride a ride that I’ve been looking forward to ride and now can’t because you’ve decided for me . I’ve stayed in lines up to 4 hours before this horrible virtual queue was started. Get rid of this virtual queue crap. I’m sure most guests will feel that way. Let us decide what we want to do not you!
