Pumpkin season is in full swing at Walt Disney World, and there are tons of Halloween themed treats to try through the end of the month. On my recent stay at the Polynesian I sampled the Pumpkin-spiced Dole Whip available only in October. Check out my review to see if it’s something you may want to add to your “to eat” list.
Halloween Treats
Disney always does a great job with their seasonal treats. They are usually both adorable and delicious!
You can read more here about the different Halloween themed snacks that are available at the parks and resorts here and here. Pumpkin Spice fans may want to read about the new Pumpkin-spiced popcorn mix here!
Dole Whips
Dole Whips are a classic Disney snack available both in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom and at the Polynesian Resort. Pineapple Lanai serves up dole Whips at the Polynesian and is located right outside the lobby through the back door if you’re headed to the pool.
It’s open to the public, not just resort guests, so anyone is welcome to hop over from the Magic Kingdom to sit on the beach with a Dole Whip! I definitely recommend this as a break from the parks or on an evening when the Magic Kingdom closes early for the Halloween party.
The classic Dole Whip flavors are pineapple and vanilla which you can also get swirled or as a refreshing float in pineapple juice. But they will often have seasonal and speciality dole whips available in the Magic Kingdom and at the Polynesian for a limited time.
Pirate Tip: The Polynesian beach is a great spot to watch the fireworks and they pipe the music in!
Pumpkin-Spiced Dole Whip
The pumpkin-spiced dole whip is only available at Pineapple Lanai in the month of October. I (Ashley) happened to be staying at the Polynesian on the day it debuted. And, as a big pumpkin spice fan I had to give it a try!
The dole whip was creamy and there was definitely a nice strong pumpkin spice flavor to the soft serve that wasn’t too sweet.
The treat also has coconut haupia which is a Hawaiian coconut pudding. I didn’t taste very much coconut flavor in there honestly.
At the bottom are graham cracker crumbs which helps make the snack a little more filling and added some nice texture. It was topped off with some caramel drizzle and a white chocolate mickey-shaped pumpkin which was adorable but not very flavorful.
Overall, though, it was a great treat and I’d definitely recommend it for a pumpkin spice fan! Personally I think it would be worth a trip to the Polynesian to give it a try. If you’re not into pumpkin flavor or prefer a more tart dole whip you may want to skip this one.
