Disney is unveiling the very first Pixar-themed hotel in the United States in just a few months! Guests will be welcomed into specially designed rooms, a new restaurant, and a new shop beginning on January 30, 2024!

Pixar Place Hotel is being born out of the reimagining of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. The Disneyland Resort property is undergoing a massive transformation, and we have a fun look at all that is in store for you!

The reimagined lobby will showcase Pixar-themed art to delight its Guests. The iconic Pixar Lamp balancing atop its ball will be at the center of it all, and it will likely make for a popular photo op!

Guests will notice a mobile of beloved Pixar characters floating above. According to Disney Parks Blog, “The mobile will depict the beginning stages of Pixar filmmaking when animators create the characters’ designs with their most basic shapes and colors. The characters you’ll see are at the beginning of their journey, just as the guests who step into the lobby begin their own story at the Disneyland Resort!”

Disney describes the new Pixar-themed rooms as comfortable and contemporary accommodations. The decor will showcase whimsical nods to the iconic animation studio.

In fact, some of the artwork has been specially commissioned for the hotel. You can spot Toy Story, Ratatouille, Brave, and the Incredibles in the concept art’s depiction of the wall art. The designers arranged the art in order from warm to cool colors, sharing the importance of color to the tone of a scene.

You might have also noticed that in the concept art, the clock is on 1:13. Legend has it that this is a fun little nod to A113 (A-one-thirteen). This is a classroom at the California Institute of the Arts. It has become a little gag that alumni, including Pixar animators, like to use in films. It is a fun little detail to make note of. Now that you know about it, see if you notice it in all of Pixar’s movies!

The rooms look colorful. However, it does appear that the theming is going to be primarily integrated in the artwork and some of the textiles. The iconic ball appears on the bedding and also the pillow. A familiar-looking lamp sits on the desk.

Is this a familiar vibe? These rooms are somewhat reminiscent of the remodeled value resort rooms in Walt Disney World.

New Shop and More

When you visit, be sure to browse through the new gift shop. It is called STOR-E, which is a playful take on the Pixar film name “WALL-E.” It will offer Pixar-themed apparel and toys, plus more Disneyland Resort souvenirs and sundries.

Guests will also enjoy a new restaurant! Great Maple restaurant will bring its innovative menu of upscale comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This modern American eatery will serve a robust selection of dishes made from scratch daily including the Cajun Shrimp & Cheddar Biscuit Benedict, Soda Pop-Braised Baby Back Ribs, Charred Cauliflower Hummus, Maple Pecan-Crusted Salmon, Market Fish, a variety of inspired salads, Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Maple Bacon Doughnuts! It opens in November.
