Virtual Queues are still in use throughout Walt Disney World. Now, Disney changed the queue time for Rise of the Resistance during its holiday event.
Virtual Queues
When Rise of the Resistance first opened, Disney knew that the demand would be great for this epic, new attraction. A Virtual Queue was utilized rather than a traditional standby line. Over the years, the Virtual Queue is now a bit more user-friendly.
Thankfully Disney World guests are not dragging their weary family into the Parks in the wee hours of the morning in hopes of joining a Virtual Queue. Walt Disney World has introduced Virtual Queues for new attractions and even merchandise events. This helps control the standby lines so they don’t get out of control.
New Time Announced
Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and TRON Ligtcycle Run at Magic Kingdom allow guests to join a 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Virtual Queue daily. At this time a Virtual Queue is only used as needed for EPCOT’s newest attraction Journey of Water inspired by Moana.
On select nights a third Virtual Queue time, 6:00 pm, is used for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle Run. This additional virtual queue time is for Extended Evening Hours and for specialty ticketed parties such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Yesterday, we shared tons of announcements for the holiday season at Walt Disney World. Disney shared more details for Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ first-ever Jollywood Nites special ticketed event. At first, Disney announced that Rise of the Resistance would be open for Jollywood Nites, but would only offer a Virtual Queue.
As with other evening, Virtual Queues at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, the Virtual Queue time was set at 6:00 p.m. At some point yesterday, Disney made a BIG change, and a first-ever 8:00 p.m. Virtual Queue time will soon be in place.
Reason for New Time
Jollywood Nites does not actually begin until 8:30 and ends at 12:30 a.m. Guests may enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios at 7:00 p.m. with their Jollywood Nites tickets. Based upon the later start time for this event, the new Virtual Queue time does make sense.
However, this is a change from what Disney originally announced. When first released, Disney shared that the Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance would open at 6:00 p.m. for guests with a Jollywood Nites ticket.
An 8:00 p.m. Virtual Queue is now announced for Rise of the Resistance.
What do you think of this new Virtual Queue time? Do you like a Virtual Queue or would you prefer a traditional standby queue? Will you attend Jollywood Nites? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
