Are you heading to Walt Disney World this holiday season? Disney just made some BIG changes to the character lineup. What do you think about these changes?
Christmas Party
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party officially begins tonight and runs through December 22nd. This separately ticketed event is held at the Magic Kingdom and offers festive food, fun, entertainment, and of course a ton of fun character meet and greets!

Character Shakeup
Previously we shared a HUGE listing of characters to meet at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. For many the chance to meet rare characters is reason enough to purchase a party ticket.
To check out the full original character list, click HERE. Just hours before the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins, Disney makes some very interesting changes.
The first big change that we notice occurs in Fantasyland. Previously Merida from Brave was set to greet guests. This is now replaced with Mirabel from Encanto.
Guests hoping to meet both Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen will want to note that their location has now changed. Previously they were to greet guests in Frontierland. This made sense, with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure coming to Frontierland next year.
Mirabel is now replacing Merida in Fantasyland.
Now, they will greet guests in Liberty Square near the Liberty Square Riverboat. Edited to add: Earlier this afternoon, a new pocket guide from planDisney shared that Sally was removed from the character list.
During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, this meet and greet held the longest wait times of any other character interaction. The thought of Jack Skellington meeting solo surprised us all. Thankfully, guests now report that Sally is indeed still meeting with Jack Skellington.
Princess Changes
Along with these changes, comes a new one this year. Previously many of our favorite princesses were accompanied with their princes for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. While some princesses and princes met outside, others met inside Princess Fairytale Hall. Located in Fantasyland, this offered a great meeting location. Guests could stand in one line and see two princesses on either side of the hall.
Now all princesses are located outside for meet and greets during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The only exception is to meet Belle from Beauty and the Beast in her crimson holiday dress. She will greet guests inside the Enchanted Tales with Belle attraction.
What do you think of these changes? Do you think these are improvements or disappointments? Which character do you wish were included in Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year?
