The premise of Fantasmic! is that Mickey is transported into a dream where he dances along with music, lighting effects, and pyrotechnics. Various characters and scenes from popular Disney movies are part of the sequence as well.

Guests can still enjoy Fantasmic! each evening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Over at Disneyland, guests have been missing this nighttime show for several months.

In April, a fire broke out unexpectedly during a showing of Fantasmic! in Disneyland. The Maleficent dragon caught fire, and flames eventually engulfed it. The show has remained closed since this incident.

Initially, Disneyland released the following statement: “Our goal is to always deliver the best possible show for our guests. With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to put Fantasmic! on hiatus through at least Labor Day.

This date was later extended until “Spring 2024.” Due to the extended downtime, Disneyland offered an alternative entertainment option. Many guests did not feel that this was a great alternative for such an amazing show.

Now we have a definitive date for the reopening of Fantasmic!. Disneyland officials share, “At a Fantasmic! cast meeting earlier this week, we announced that the show will return on May 24, 2024.”

“At a Fantasmic! cast meeting earlier this week, we announced that the show will return on May 24, 2024.”

Although this is still quite a few months away, at least an official reopening date is now set.

What do you think of this delayed reopening? Do you think Disneyland should offer a better alternative while this show is unavailable? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
