Disney Issues A New Ban Against Pin Trading

Disney Issues A New Ban Against Pin Trading

Disney goes above and beyond to create magical experiences for all guests. In an effort to do so, Disney now created new rules for pin trading in the Disney Parks. What do you think of this new change?

Many Disney fans who enjoy collecting Disney pins also enjoy Pin Trading. Pin trading is very fun for guests both young and young at heart, but with all things, a few rules are in place.

The most obvious rule is that only official Disney pins may be traded. Pins must be in good condition and include the correct Mickey Mouse-shaped rubber backing.

Guests can find Disney pin trading boards throughout the parks and trade directly with Cast Members wearing pin lanyards. This change just returned this week. Read more about it HERE.

New Rules Announced

At Disneyland for quite some time, a new era of pin trading developed. This past summer, we were surprised by a very congested Frontierland entrance. The walkway through Frontierland was congested during the busier weekend hours. Disneyland is now limiting the presence of guest pin traders with these new rules.

New guidelines are now in place for Disneyland guests hoping to trade pins that are not displayed on a lanyard. Guests may only bring one trading bag (measuring 14″L x 12″W x 6″H or smaller.) No signs, lights, or displays will be permitted.

This is only allowed in front of the Westward Ho Trading Company. Hours of operation are from park opening until 3:00 pm each day (Disney reserves the right to change times.)

Finally, the is the rule that Disneyland guests can be most excited about, “Benches or any other structures for the display of pins will not be permitted. Benches are for seating purposes only.”

“Benches or any other structures for the display of pins will not be permitted. Benches are for seating purposes only.”

If guests violate these rules, the Disneyland website states that these guests may be removed from Disneyland premises. We are thankful that Disney still allows pin trading among guests, but we love these newly updated restrictions.

Professional pin traders maybe nice people but you have some who think it is their right to take up benches & other sitting places for trading their pins, which is wrong. I wished a guy literally bullying a senior couple who were sitting on a be nch that he wanted for his pins. I was able to grab a hold of a cast member who talked to the couple, they apologized to the couple, & then had security escort the pin traders off the premises. All I have to say is you want to trade pins fine, but realize the park is not there for you to trade pins. There are people who are there to enjoy the park without having to accommodate your pin trading.

Disney killed pin trading in Orlando years ago. They removed the tables at Disney Sptings, removed the tables at Epcot, stopped pin trading nights at the hotels and stopped requiring cast members to wear lanyards ...... We spent thousands on pins for my son and had an amazing time......Steven Miller of Disney never liked pintrading or dealing with us. They destroyed cast lanyards Nd got greedy.

Your revenue is down due to bad decisions....killing pin trading nights is one of many.

The pin trading there has been an issue for some, for some time. Here is the thing, Disney is private property and they have rules, which they can change if they deem it . This change is not the first time they have changed rules concerning pin trading. I think it has a lot to do with taking over the benches there, as guest that aren't the pin traders that set up have no place to sit. Just think of this, if they have problems, they could do away with the pin trading completely. If you think not, please remember this, Tokyo Disney did away with pin trading in the park. Why you might ask, well because of the pin traders. They would set up their mats (like pin boards) all over the parks, along with arguing and fighting. Lets remember, it is not a right, but a privilage that is given for pin trading. Oh, I have been a pin collector for almost 19 years and love to trade.

At last! Besides taking up valuable sitting space. I have found most of this professional pin traders to be rude. Remember it is all about making money for them.

So sad our country is no longer free. Literally every aspect of our daily lives is governed by policies instead of what our founding fathers meant for us. And nobody says anything. They just accept it.

Donny - Exactly! Thank you for saying that! Disney finally spoke up, stood for its rights, and said "No More! We don't have to let you restrict our benches, our walkways, our rights! If you want to clog up a park and make money off us, go build your own park, like the founding fathers created their own country!"

This might be the most ignorant comment on this board, lol. It's a private park, on private property. Disney gets to make the rules. Also, the constitution is a list of policies that that the founding fathers came up with to, you know, govern our daily lives.

There are plenty of real issues to be pissed off about in 2023, and Disney not allowing flipppers to hustle pins in the park isn't one of them, especially citing "muh freedums"
