Emergencies happen even at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Find out all that we know so far with this early morning evacuation. Have you experienced a similar situation while staying at Walt Disney World?
Disney World Resorts
Disney Guests have many options to choose from when planning to stay at Walt Disney World Resorts. There are many factors to consider including price, location, resort amenities, and perks available for select guests such as Extended Evening Hours.
All Walt Disney World Resort guests can enjoy Early Theme Park Entry and free Disney transportation. There are some great reasons to stay on property. However, even while staying inside the “Disney Bubble” the unexpected can still occur.
We have seen this in the past with chemical emergencies to even flooding. Walt Disney World does a great job balancing guest safety while also minimizing inconveniences for guests. At times, evacuations cannot be avoided.
Resort Evacuation
Many guests enjoy staying at Pop Century with great theming, and access to the Disney Skyliner, and is featured at a lower price point as a Value Resort. Pop Century has over 3,000 rooms and buildings are separated by decades including the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
Last night guests staying near the far end of the resort in the 80’s and 90’s buildings were startled awake around 2:30 am as fire alarms went off. All guests were forced to evacuate their rooms and to wait outside for the all-clear.
Many guests who reported the evacuation mentioned that it smelled as if it may be an electrical fire. Guests remained outside and videos were posted at 2:40 am as fire alarms continued to blare as guests waited outside wrapped in blankets and towels.
Thankfully, whatever the concern was, it was dealt with quickly. Around 3:00 am, guests reported that they were able to return to their resort rooms. We are thankful that the issue was resolved quickly, but this was no doubt not the wake-up call that many of them had envisioned.
Select Pop Century Guests had an emergency evacuation early this morning.
Disney has not made a statement regarding the alarms or the emergency evacuation.
