Have you loved or been shocked by the most Disney films? Check out Bob Iger’s big plans to hopefully turn around Walt Disney Entertainment, including the most recent changes.
New Focus
The Walt Disney Company has experienced many changes over the last several years. Many loyal Disney fans have been underwhelmed by the last several Disney releases. After Disney+ first premiered, a big change happened at the Walt Disney Company with Bob Chapek replacing former CEO, Bob Iger.
Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO in November 2022. Over the last several earning quarters, Iger shared that Disney Entertainment will have a new focus on “quality” content over just “quantity.”
Along with this new focus, Iger most recently shared that he will take a more key role in developing new Disney Entertainment. We are hopeful that this may give Disney Entertainment a new boost.
The newest Disney animated film, Wish, is everything we love about Disney. If more films follow this trajectory, this may be the turnaround that Disney needs to draw back fans.

New Changes
The Walt Disney Company has already cut many shows based on this new focus. May 2023 brought the first big wave of cancellations. Since that time, Disney+ has continued to remove content that possibly underperformed. Disney has sold content to other streaming providers as they narrow their focus.
Most recently, Disney announced that Muppet Mayhem will end after only one season. Of course not all changes are bad. Yesterday Disney announced that Dave Filoni is the new Executive Vice President/Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm.
My (Donna) son absolutely loved the direction that Dave Filoni took to help create such entertainment as “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels.”
Most recently, Filoni has helped create “The Mandalorian”, “The Book of Boba Fett”, and most recently “Ahsoka”. Many Star Wars fans (my son included) are hopeful that this may be the new focus that Star Wars needs.
