Genie+ is a very valuable tool that will help save you time waiting in standby queues. However, one of the “loopholes” Guests took advantage of is now possibly closed.
Genie+
Built on top of Genie, Genie+ is a paid feature that offers more convenience and flexibility. Here is the shortened version: for $15+ per person per day at Disney World and $20+ per person per day at Disneyland, choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance.
You can choose to use the standby line instead of purchasing Genie+. In doing so, Disney is not forcing you to pay for this feature. You can make one selection at a time all throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World and 15+ attractions are available at Disneyland.

Stacking
The rules for booking Lightning Lanes at Disney World are as follows:
- You can make your first Genie+ selection at 7:00 am
- Then, you can make subsequent Genie+ return times every 2 hours after the park opens OR
- After you tap in to your Lightning Lane
Oftentimes, many people who are visiting the parks later in the day will take advantage of “stacking” Lightning Lanes. They will spend all day grabbing return times and then “burn through” those return times once they arrive in the parks.
This is absolutely not “illegal” by any means as Disney does allow it. It is simply another strategy for Guests who don’t spend an entire day in the parks.
“Loophole Closed”…Maybe?
The “loophole” (which isn’t really a loophole – it’s just something Disney failed to address) comes in during the seasonal parties. Previously, people who had a party ticket but no park ticket could purchase Genie+ as well as Individual Lightning Lanes and use them during the 4:00-6:00 pm or 7:00-8:00 mix-in times (depending on which party you attend).
In fact, I just did this during the first weekend of holiday parties at both Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
However, recent reports show that Disney is not allowing Guests without a park ticket to purchase Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lanes anymore. We cannot confirm that this is true, but it is definitely something you will want to consider if you plan to use Genie+ during the hour mix-in.
