2024 is going to be an exciting year for Disney character fans. Here are all the details of the new celebrations and new characters coming in 2024.
Before we discuss the great character additions, let’s look at the festivities that Disney Parks just announced.
Celebration Events
Disneyland Resort will offer multiple celebration events in 2024. We already knew that Fantasmic will return in 2024 and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open, and that’s a great reason to celebrate, but the resort will turn the entire year into a great series of festivities.
A new parade and characters!
Pixar Fest is returning to the Disneyland Resort. The “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration will offer a new daytime parade and parade floats. The parade will take place in Disney California Adventure each day from April 26 through August 4.
Daytime isn’t the only time to get some love during the festival. Each night, Disneyland Park will offer “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular.” It’s sure to pull on your deepest Pixar emotions from the past.
During Pixar Fest, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter Ember and Wade from “Elemental” and Red Panda Mei from “Turning Red”
Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is a time of tribute to Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese cultures. 2024 is the year of the Dragon, so we expect Mushu to lead the celebration. Lunar New Year takes place from January 23 through February 18.
Celebrate Gospel
Celebrate Gospel is an annual tribute to Gospel music that features local music artists and community choirs. It will take place on February 17 and 24. Marvin Sapp and Tasha Cobbs Leonard will headline the celebration. Their performances will take place in the Fantasyland Theater in Disneyland Park.
Anaheim Mighty Ducks Days
The National Hockey League will receive some love on February 22 and 23 as the Anaheim Ducks celebrate the fast-paced, hard-hitting sport. You will see a celebration cavalcade featuring Ducks players, a fan zone, and different themed activities. Expect to see current and former Ducks players in attendance.
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival
The most popular food festival in the Anaheim area will return from March 1 through April 22. It is a foodie’s paradise with festival booths spread along the parade route. You will also see cooking demonstrations and a diversity of entertainment.
Season of the Force
Hyperspace Moutain will return!!! This is my favorite version of the various Space Mountain overlays that Disneyland offered over the years. Star Tours will also offer some new destinations to which to adventure. You should also expect some classic Star Wars music as the park presents a special fireworks show. You can experience Season of the Force from April 5 through June 2.
Halloween Time
The celebration of Disney Villains returns with festive autumn decor, characters in their Halloween costumes, and the return of the Oogie Boogie bash in Disney California Adventure. Space Mountain also takes on a slightly scarier version of its fun experience.
Plaza de Familia
From August 23 through November 2 you can experience classic touches of Mexican traditions. Dia de los Muertos gardens in Frontierland along with Miguel from “Coco” are available. You can sip and savor delicious treats as well.
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort
November 15 through the New Year, you will see your favorite Disney friends in their festive costumes, and catch the amazing Disneyland Christmas parade and holiday-themed fireworks. Don’t forget to save some room for all the yummy treats!
Disneyland After Dark
On select nights from January through June (to be announced soon), you can enjoy special character meet and greets and very low ride wait times on various themed nights. Previous years included themes like Sweethearts Night, Throwback Nights, and Star Wars Nights.
You might want to plan multiple visits to Disneyland in 2024 to enjoy all the amazing festivities. Which ones sound the best to you?
