Big Thunder Mountain is Closed With No Opening in Sight

It’s always so disappointing to see an attraction is closed. It’s even worse when that dreaded pop-up notification indicates it may not open at all.

Legend has it that soon after gold was first discovered here in the 1850s, eerie things began to happen. Trains would take off and race through tunnels—by themselves. Descend into an abandoned mine shaft and board your train. End head among the rickety track and dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders.

This attraction is a favorite among Disney fans and Guests, and it’s no surprise why. It is one of the fastest roller coasters with bumps and dark thrills.

YOUR RIP-ROARING ADVENTURE PROVES THAT SOME LEGENDS ARE TRUE. YOU’RE SURE TO HAVE A REAL BLAST!

Unfortunately, this popular attraction has not opened at all today, December 7. What’s even worse is the dreaded pop-up notification indicates this is likely a looooong closure.

On behalf of the entire team at Magic Kingdom, I’d like to apologize that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently unavailable. Our Cast Members are working diligently to get the attraction up and running again, and we are sorry you are not able to experience this attraction at this time.

I hope you will enjoy some of our other attractions during your experience in the park today.

The attraction has not been available to book on Genie+ today. If you are hoping to ride, keep checking for a return time to become available! You can also check the wait time to see if there is one. That will indicate Big Thunder Mountain is open today.

Are you at Magic Kingdom? Are you hoping to ride the wildest ride in the wilderness? Let us know in the comments below. And, share this with someone who know who is in the park!
