If you are making your Disney itinerary, it’s very important that you know one Disney attraction closes before official park closing. Knowing this information could be the difference between your travel party riding or missing it.
Closes Early
Disney World is home to many wonderful attractions – from fighting the First Order to saving the galaxy. Most of those are open during all normal operating hours, which is great when it comes to planning your itinerary. That’s one less thing to keep in mind!
However, sometimes outside forces necessitate the early closure of some attractions. Whether that be bad weather, the rotation of the Earth, or something else entirely, it does happen.
Over at Animal Kingdom, you should be aware that one ride will close earlier than the rest: Kilimanjaro Safaris.
Why
Kilimanjaro Safaris is an exciting open air safari ride through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Harambe Wildlife Reserve is a 110 acre area which is home to 34 species of animals. On this attraction, you’ll be driven in a safari vehicle and guided by a expert on the Reserve.
Because there are live animals on the safari, daylight is a pretty important component of an enjoyable safari experience. Because sunset occurs before 6:00 pm, Kilimanjaro Safaris closes at 4:45 pm every day.
Disney Cast Members stated they call the animals in for the evening at 5:30, and this early closure is expected to last until at least early February (potentially later into February as well).
I had the opportunity to ride the safari just this week at 4:30, and the sun cast over the Savana in the most beautiful way! I also heard the lion roar and move around (more so than I had ever seen him do so before). If you get the chance, consider a late afternoon safari ride.
