Restaurant refurbishments are rare, but they do occur. One of the most popular Disney restaurants is closing soon, and here is what you need to know about it.
Restaurant Refurbishments
Attraction refurbishments are frequent occurrences around the Disney Parks. It is necessary to maintain these rides so they can be enjoyed for years to come.
The same goes for the Disney Resorts. It is of utmost importance to keep everything looking nice and up to date.
One refurbishment you may not see often is for restaurants. Typically, restaurants only close when they are undergoing a massive renovation, like we have seen for Tiana’s Palace in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
However, one restaurant will undergo a short, but notable, closure soon.
Blue Bayou
Ever since Blue Bayou opened its doors in 1967, it has become a must-visit restaurant for those visiting Disneyland. Diners can feast on Southern style dishes in an atmosphere that closely mimics the bayou.
The best part of the Blue Bayou is undoubtedly the atmosphere. If you have ever dined in Pinocchio Village Haus at the Magic Kingdom, you know a section of the restaurant overlooks it’s a small world. Blue Bayou is the same way for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
When eating in the restaurant, you can look out over the water and see the boats pass by. On the flip side of that, if you are riding Pirates of the Caribbean make sure to look at everyone enjoying their meals!
During my first visit to Disneyland, I did my research on the all quintessential restaurants one must experience when visiting the West Coast. Blue Bayou quickly rose to the top of that list. You can read my review of it right here.
Refurbishment
Blue Bayou will close for refurbishment in January 2024. It is scheduled to begin on January 7 and will last through January 19. Operating hours resume on January 20.
Disney has not provided any information about what work will take place, but since it is such a short closure we can only assume it’s for some light mechanical work or cosmetic touch ups.
Pirates of the Caribbean will remain open during this time.
