Disney fans prepare touring plans to enjoy their favorite attractions. Unfortunately, the Disney refurbishment list just continues to grow for this one month. Check out the new additions and the full list here.
Disney Park Refurbishments
Just as New York City is the “City That Never Sleeps”, Disney Parks rarely ever close. Although the Disney Parks stay busy throughout the calendar year, there are slower times for the parks.
This means that Disney must maintain and refurbish Resorts and Parks while guests are visiting. At times, this may offer only a minor inconvenience. It does seem that every year, one month in particular is hit with multiple refurbishment closures.
With the growing list of refurbishments, it appears that January may be “Refurbishment Month” for the Disney Parks. At Walt Disney World, the Disney Skyliner, Animal Kingdom’s Kali River Rapids, and Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain will all close this January.
Over at Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion will close. This is customary to remove the holiday overlay additions, but it appears that this closure may last a bit longer. Check out the Haunted Mansion expansion that may keep this attraction closed for an indefinite period of time.
“it’s a small world” at Disneyland also offers a holiday overlay. The attraction will close on January 8, 2024, to return the attraction to its original theme. Also at Disneyland, the famous “Blue Bayou” will close in January as well.
New Refurbishments
The January refurbishment calendar does not stop here though. Disney is busy adding even more attractions to the refurbishment list. The beautiful Sailing Ship Columbia at Disneyland is a full-scale replica of a classic 18th-century pirate ship that whisks fellow Pirate fans on an uncharted adventure.
This ship will be closed from January 8th through January 11th for maintenance. Across the Promenade at Disney’s California Adventure, two more attractions are added to the refurbishment list.
First, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will close on January 22, 2024. At this time a reopening date is not yet set. Grizzly River Run will also close starting January 8th. This whitewater rafting adventure offers no reopening date for this refurbishment.
Guests can enjoy lower crowd levels in January, but this growing list of closed attractions seems a bit disappointing.
9 attractions and counting are now set to close for refurbishment in January 2024.
