Marvel has parted ways with a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The studio will no longer be working with actor Johnathan Majors.

Majors played villain Kang the Conquerer. The character is an integral part of the storyline in both seasons of Loki on Disney+ as well as the movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The villainous character had much more lined up on the horizon.

Majors also starred in the film Magazine Dreams, which generated a bit of Oscar Buzz. However, that film has since been pulled from Disney’s release lineup.

Why is this separation happening exactly? In March, Majors was arrested on multiple charges after an incident with his ex-partner. Today, a jury found him guilty of two charges: misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury AND harassment in the second degree.

Marvel Studios has dropped the actor.

In light of these events, now the future is unclear for the Kang character. Marvel has created quite a story surrounding Kang. In fact, Majors was slated to play the lead in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, an Avengers sequel set to release in May of 2026.

It is possible that Marvel will simply find a new actor to play Kang the Conqueror. However, there is also the possibility that Marvel could simply write the character out and insert a new villain.

Rumor has it that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is already being referred to as Avengers 5 instead. So far, Marvel has made no official statement on the fate of the Kang character. Will we see a recast or a rewrite? Only time will tell.

What should Marvel do with the Kang character now that Majors is no longer working with the studio? Let us know in the comments. As always, feel free to pass this story along to the Marvel fans in your life.
