One of the things that brighten everyone’s day is announcements of the arrival of new baby animals in Disney World! Earlier this year, we were pleased to share with you that a very rare set of twins was born in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

The adorable duo is a pair of cotton-top tamarins, a tiny species of monkeys that grows to a size of less than one pound. These adorable primates are no larger than a squirrel!

Cotton-top tamarins are considered a rare species with less than 7,500 remaining in the wild. Their numbers are so low that they are, unfortunately, considered critically endangered. Deforestation and habitat loss as well as the illegal pet trade have both contributed to the fate of this species.

This is why the twins represent so much hope for the species. Not only do these little ones delight fans of the animal kingdom, but they are great news for the world!

Disney’s conservation efforts have brought numerous baby animals into the world from an array of endangered and threatened species. These births are part of an initiative called the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan.

Any time important animal births happen, their fans want to make sure they are still doing well! Not only are the twins doing well, but we are happy to report the two are thriving in their home. And, we are also pleased to share that Disney announced their names: Catalina and Rosa!

You can visit Catalina, Rosa, and the entire family when you head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Look for them in their habitat on Discovery Island. A Cast Member will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Here is a video of the pair for you to enjoy! This way you can see them even if you do not have a visit planned.
