Holiday crowds are gone, or are they? Take a look at what’s happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and see whether or not you should go to another Disney World park instead.
Disney World Crowds
The holidays brought the largest crowds of the year to all of the Disney World theme parks! Wait times got as high as 200+ minutes for the most popular attractions!
It’s important to create a touring plan anytime you visit Disney, but especially when large crowds are anticipated! For help with your touring plans and so much more, be sure and subscribe to Character Locator.
With the holidays behind us, have the large crowds left yet? It doesn’t appear that they have, especially at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Wait times were 200+ minutes for the most popular Disney World attractions during the peak holiday season.
Genie+
Genie+ is an add-on feature to My Disney Experience that offers more convenience and flexibility. For $15+ per person per day at Disney World and $20+ at Disneyland per person per day, you can choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. We saw record prices for Genie+ recently!
However, it is an optional purchase. You have the option to use the standby line instead of purchasing Genie+. You can make one selection at a time throughout the day. 40+ attractions are included at Walt Disney World and 15+ attractions are available at Disneyland.
Sold Out
We saw Genie+ sell out several times during the peak holiday season. And this was even with the highest prices ever! However, it may be worth it to skip those crazy long lines.
And today, January 4, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Multiple Parks Genie+ have already sold out! Before the holidays, we didn’t see Disney’s Hollywood Studios sell out so it may be wise to skip this park today.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Multiple Parks Genie+ have already sold out so be sure and plan accordingly.
What Does This Mean for You?
Even if you purchase Genie+, Disney doesn’t guarantee that you can do all the rides. They actually changed their wording of Genie+ last year, stating that you should expect to get two or three rides or experiences a day while using Genie+. You can read more about that HERE.
If your plan is flexible, it may be a good idea to visit another Disney World park today. However, Genie+ selling out is just one piece of the crowd “puzzle” so be sure and check wait times at each park too. And remember, you can park hop at 2:00 pm also.
Have you been to a park when Genie+ sold out? How did that affect the crowd level? Do you usually purchase Genie+ to avoid lines or wait in standby? Please let us know in the comments and share this post with someone who loves Disney.
