Reopening Date Announced for a Disney World Refurbishment

Refurbishments happen regularly at Walt Disney World. It’s not unusual for at least one attraction to be closed at any given time. Restaurants, hotels, and other areas of the property also require updates to ensure optimal guest enjoyment. We now have the reopening date for one refurbishment.

Refurbishments may be carried out for several reasons, including mechanical issues or cosmetic updates. The length of the refurbishment depends on the nature and scope of the work, ranging from a few days to several months.

Every year we can can count on a refurbishment for Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. This ride takes you through fast-moving rapids, waterfalls, and a raging current, before dropping you down a 20-foot slope! Disney warns that you’ll get splashed and possibly soaked on Kali River Rapids.

No one wants to get soaked in the middle of winter, so this ride closes every year for updates.

Kali River Rapids is closed for its yearly routine refurbishment.

That doesn’t do much for people planning their trips in mid-March! Will the ride be open or not?

The Disney World website confirms the attraction is schedule to reopen on March 16, 2024. Typically, refurbishment timelines are consistent. However, be aware this date may get pushed around a few days in either direction. We will keep you update if this date changes.
