Disney Vacation Club’s newest resort has just gone on sale. If you are planning to purchase points here is some information you need to know.
Cabins at Fort Wilderness
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will offer 350 cabins that “bring refreshed cabin hideaways.” This DVC resort will be the 17th Disney Vacation Club Resort and is projected to open in Summer 2024.
The Fort offers a unique way to experience Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to check out the complete guide to The Fort HERE.
Sleeps Six
DVC one bedroom villas are known to sleep four to five people. These new cabins will sleep six people!
This new accommodation will offer up a whole new possibility for larger families. The cabins will keep the family together and the cost low!
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort is the only one bedroom to sleep six people.
Resale Rules
A few years ago, Disney made restrictions to DVC resale purchases at specific resorts from that point on. These restrictions may make the resorts less appealing on the resale market.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort will be no different. This means that if you purchase a Membership at the Cabins via resale, you can only use your points here.
Here is the statement from DVC: “Effective January 19, 2019, Disney Vacation Club® Members who do not acquire their real estate interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. will not be able to make Vacation Point reservations at some or all non-Home Resorts.”
Laundry
In the floor plan above, there is no laundry (washer and dryer) in the cabin. This is unlike any other one bedroom villa Disney Vacation Club offers.
Disney Vacation Club offers their Members free laundry during their stay at a DVC resort. One would hope that they would continue this perk at this resort as well, especially with no laundry offered in-room. If this perk is continued to be offered, DVC would need to have a designated laundry room in one of the comfort stations.
No Timeline For Amenities
When DVC announced that they would be expanding into The Fort, they also shared they would be updating some of the amenities. They proposed walking trail enhancement, pool and expanded dining experiences at both Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern. Check out the announcement HERE.
However, DVC has not announced when any of these updates will occur. The cabins are set to open on July 1, 2024 and new Guests could have to deal with a possible refurbishment schedule of pools for example.
Affordable
The Points Chart was recently released, and I was pleasantly surprised. These cabins are affordable!
The unique one bedroom cabins start as low as 15 points per night! You read that right! You can stay here for as low as some studios! How awesome is that?
You can check out the Points Chart for 2024 and 2025 HERE.
Only Pet Friendly DVC Resort
Currently, there are no pet friendly DVC accommodations, but that is soon to change! The Cabins will be the first dog-friendly DVC accommodations.
Dogs will be the only pet allowed, and there will be a maximum of 2 dogs per cabin. Guests will have an additional fee for each dog for each night of their stay.
For awareness, Disney does state that dog-friendly accommodations are subject to change without notice.
Price
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort are now on sale for current DVC Members. The price is $225 per point. This is the same amount as Disney’s Riviera Resort and Aulani.
There is also a promotion going on: the more you buy the more you can save. This offer starts at a buy in of 100 points. It is good on purchases through April 1, 2024.
The price per point for the Cabins at Fort Wilderness will start at $225. The Ownership Interest Expires on January 31, 2075.
The Cabins will go on sale to the general public on February 27, 2024. Be sure to read HERE for when home Members and all DVC Members can book. This Ownership Interest Expires on January 31, 2075.

These cabins are very nice on the inside. I do not particularly like the exterior. Major upgrades (restoration!) are needed to Trails End to enable a stay here to be the best possible. Disney can easily address the laundry issue. Laundry facilities already exist at Ft. Wilderness and a simple software change can enable DVC guests to do their laundry free. I think most important are any restrictions on using these Ft Wilderness DVC points at other DVC resorts, similar to how the Riviera contracts are structured. Your home resort may not always be available and your vacation plans can be severely compromised without being able to book at other DVC resorts. That is a deal-killer for us. We love the Riviera but will not add-on there because of this restriction.
