Disney World is Testing New Machines for Entering the Parks

Back in 2020, Disney World unveiled new security machines that made it even easier to enter the theme parks. Now, they are testing a new machine to ensure everyone is even safer.

Evolv scanners are newer security screenings. The scanners are said to be “the fastest weapons-screening system on the market!”

Evolv scanners are faster and more efficient than the previous method of screening at Disney World. Previously, you needed to wait in a long line, place your bags on the table, and wait while security rifled through your belongings.

Now, you simply walk through the scanner with your bags. If you are flagged, you then move to a separate line and have security manually check your bag.

Guest and Cast Member is on the forefront of Disney’s minds. In addition to the Evolv scanners Disney installed in 2020, they are now testing a machine specifically for your bags.

We saw this testing take place at Epcot. You place your bag in a bin much like you would at the airport or other secure location. Then, you walk through the Evolv scanner while your belongings get scanned separately. If needed, security personnel may still need to manually check your bag.

What is the benefit of this?

These new machines will provide better accuracy in checking for unauthorized items like weapons. Many times, the Evolv scanners will flag you but when security checks it turns out to be nothing.

This should help decrease the number of times security needs to manually check bags. Hopefully testing will go well and we see this implemented in other parks!
