Big changes were announced for Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, a few months ago. One huge change was expected to go into effect sometime this year. However, that has now changed. See what you think about this.
Disney+
Disney+ has been the streaming platform of choice for many Disney fans for the past few years. It is the perfect way to enjoy all of your favorite Disney movies and shows in one place. Since its release, we have seen tremendous success and also a decrease in subscription numbers.
After Disney’s CEO Bob Iger returned to the Walt Disney Company, one of his number one priorities was to improve Disney+. At one point, the streaming platform lost up to 4 million subscribers.
Price Increases
As expected, prices did increase for Disney+. Subscribers saw an increase in subscribing in September 2023. We also saw price increases happen for other streaming platforms like Hulu and ESPN+.

Account Sharing
One other thing that Disney has seemed to crack down on is account sharing. Bob Iger previously stated, “Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreement with additional terms on our sharing policies. And we will roll out tactics to drive monetization sometime in 2024.”
In fact, many subscribers might have just received an email from Disney+ informing them of the recent changes in their subscriber agreements. All of these changes were expected to go into effect for prior and existing subscribers beginning March 14, 2024. However, this has now changed.
During the First Quarter Earnings Call, Disney CEO stated account sharing policies will not go into effect until 2025.
No specific date has been mentioned just yet, but it looks like subscribers have at least another year to see any huge changes for account sharing.
