Since Walt Disney World does not close for select seasons, refurbishments and maintenance take place during operating hours. Some attractions close for a lengthy amount of time, such as the refurbishment of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Frontierland.

Some attractions can remain open while refurbishments are taking place, such as Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Other attractions may close early for much-needed maintenance, like TestTrack at EPCOT.

Today at Magic Kingdom, guests noticed signage that the Journey of the Little Mermaid will close today at 7:00 pm to all guests. We heard rumors that this attraction will close for routine maintenance and will not reopen until tomorrow.

We have seen similar early closures for this attraction in the past. If you are at the Magic Kingdom today, you will want to enjoy this attraction early. The My Disney Experience app notes this early 7:00 pm closure today.

A great tip for planning your day at Magic Kingdom is to enjoy Fantasyland early in the day. Many attractions are affected when Cast Members prepare for nighttime fireworks.

On several evenings, the entire area of Fantasyland was evacuated and attractions were temporarily closed due to wind and weather advisories. With early closures and even weather advisories, it is a great idea to visit Fantasyland early.

What do you think of this early closure? Will you adjust your touring plans for the Magic Kingdom? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
