Typically Walt Disney World announces refurbishments and closures ahead of time, but this one kind of us took us by surprise. Find out which attraction is now closed off to guests and make plans for your next trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Refurbishments
Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons. Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months.
Walt Disney World is just coming out of what we like to call “Refurbishment Month”. Although the Disney Parks stay busy throughout the calendar year, there are slower times for the parks. With the growing list of refurbishments, it appears that January may be “Refurbishment Month” for the Disney Parks.

Attraction Closure
Earlier we shared that Walt Disney Presents would undergo a refurbishment starting on February 12th and would reopen March 2nd. Later, Disney removed this attraction from Walt Disney World’s Refurbishment Calendar.
Unexpected as it was, we thought this attraction would remain open. Walt Disney Presents is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Animation Courtyard. You can explore great displays and learn more about Walt Disney and the history of the Walt Disney Company.
In one section, guests can enjoy watching Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. This short 15-minute long documentary is all about Walt Disney’s life and legacy.
However, yesterday, February 12th, the entire theatre was closed off with a black curtain. Guests can still enjoy a large section of this attraction, but for now, the Walt Disney Theatre is closed off to guests.

What does this mean for your next trip?
Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers a much smaller list of attractions than other Walt Disney World World Parks. That makes it even more frustrating when attractions close at this park.
Currently, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closed for a rather lengthy refurbishment. With one attraction unavailable, perhaps they chose to refurbish sections of Walt Disney Presents to keep the attraction partially open to guests. At this time a reopening date is not yet set for the Walt Disney Theatre.
