Star Wars and the Walt Disney Company collaborated quite a bit before the Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm back in 2012. Many loyal Disney guests and Star Wars fans may remember a special themed event, Star Wars Weekend.

The first Star Wars Weekend occurred back in 1997. This special weekend debuted in what was then MGM Studios. Guests returned for several more Star Wars Weekends in 2001 and 2003. This then became an annual event from 2003 until 2015.

Unfortunately, 2015 marked the end of this special weekend as work began to form over at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

One fun part of these Star Wars Weekends was the Legends of the Force Motorcade. Led by Mickey Mouse, this parade featured many of our favorite Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters. Who could forget Goofy dressed as Darth Vader?

This fun mixture of Disney magic along with the iconic Star Wars storytelling was a big reason guests attended these special weekends. Now Mickey Mouse will be leading a Star Wars cavalcade once again.

Along with adding additional dates, Disney announced that a Star Wars cavalcade will be part of this special event. This time, Disney is bringing a fun twist to this parade. All guests dressed in Star Wars-themed costumes will be able to join in for this great cavalcade.
