After several years of closure, the NBA Experience will finally see some changes. Read about the new permits filed and what this may mean for Disney Springs.
NBA Experience
When the Disney Parks closed in 2020, many things changed once the parks reopened. One of the biggest changes was that many experiences and locations remained closed. Over time many experiences and locations have and will reopen such as with recent news for 1900 Park Fare.
Still, other locations remain closed. One such closure is at Disney Springs for the NBA Experience. This large building once allowed guests to feel as though they were an NBA player for the day.
In August 2021, Disney announced that this building would be reimagined. Back in May 2022, the NBA Experience building reopened to allow guests to enjoy a Meta Quest FREE Star Wars virtual reality experience until the end of July 2022.
This building was used as an office space as Summer House on the Lake at Disney Springs was under construction, but these are the only two instances when this huge building opened over the past 4 years.
Permits Filed
A new permit is now filed by the Adena group. Adena has worked in the past with The Walt Disney Company on such projects as the World Celebration Gardens at EPCOT and the TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom.
The permit states “General Construction/Demo.” At this time it is unclear if this work is taking place for the promised reimagining of this building or if a new tenant is planning to move in.
Permits now filed for “General Construction/Demo” at the NBA Experience.
We will continue to follow this demolition work, and hopefully, more news will be announced for this vacant space.
What work do you think will take place? Do you hope a new experience will move in soon? Did you ever take part in the NBA Experience? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
