Animal Kingdom Refurbishment is Ending Sooner Than Expected

Animal Kingdom Refurbishment is Ending Sooner Than Expected

Refurbishments happen regularly at Walt Disney World. It’s not unusual for at least one attraction to be closed at any given time. Restaurants, hotels, and other areas of the property also require updates to ensure optimal guest enjoyment. We now have an updated reopening date for one refurbishment, and it’s sooner than expected!

Refurbishments may be carried out for several reasons, including mechanical issues or cosmetic updates. The length of the refurbishment depends on the nature and scope of the work, ranging from a few days to several months.

Every year we can count on a refurbishment for Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. This ride takes you through fast-moving rapids, waterfalls, and a raging current, before dropping you down a 20-foot slope! Disney warns that you’ll get splashed and possibly soaked on Kali River Rapids.

No one wants to get soaked in the middle of winter, so this ride closes every year for updates.

Kali River Rapids closed for refurbishment on January 8, 2024. At the time, we did not have a reopening date. Then, we learned it would reopen in mid-March. You can read more details HERE.

Disney gave us a reopening date of March 16, 2024. You can read about that in this post.

If you had your heart set on riding Kali River Rapids before March 16, you are in luck. But, do not get too excited.

The Disney World website confirms Kali River Rapids will reopen one day earlier on March 15, 2024. I know, I know. That doesn’t give most of us much to work with.

Kali River Rapids will reopen one day earlier on March 15, 2024.

However, for those people visiting on March 15 this may be welcome news! We will keep you updated if the reopening date continues to fluctuate.
