There is nothing quite like the magic of the Disney Parks. runDisney offers guests a unique opportunity to see if they can “Go the Distance” while enjoying the true magic of Disney in every mile.

Every year, the Princess Half Marathon Weekend celebrates our favorite Disney females! There is a 5k, 10k, and half marathon.

Participants enjoy great character meet and greets both before, during, and after the races. Many of these characters are quite rare which makes these events quite appealing to all Character Locators. Throughout the race courses are great Disney entertainment, access to run through the parks before park opening, and some pretty great medals.

Changes to Schedule

The start line for the half marathon is on a road outside Epcot and then runs to Magic Kingdom. Then, it goes back to and through Epcot and ends in the Epcot parking lot.

The half marathon is today, February 25.

While we cannot be for certain, we believe the half marathon may be the cause for Epcot’s new hours today. Now, the park opens an hour later at 10:00 am. Early Entry begins at 9:30 am for onsite Guests.

What does this mean for you?

Well, this means a lot for you actually! Not only does it give you one less hour in Epcot, but since it now opens later all those late risers will be entering at the same time as you.

Epcot opens an hour later at 10:00 am today, February 25.

This will likely create busier queues and less availability for Genie+. It is also disappointing that this change was made on short notice and you may be up and planning your day at Epcot already.
