On September 29, 2021, guests enjoyed the last viewing of Happily Ever After. This made way for the new nighttime show, Disney Enchantment, in honor of Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary.

As the 50th Anniversary came to an end, Disney confirmed the beloved fireworks show would return on April 3, 2023The show featured brand new projections down Main Street, U.S.A.

This was a great addition to Happily Ever After, but the show still lacked a few key elements as enjoyed before the 2020 Disney Park closure.

Walt Disney coined the term “plussing”. Walt Disney encouraged his creative Imagineers to take a great idea and then “plus it” by adding new elements for the delight of guests.

On a recent trip to the Magic Kingdom, we enjoyed a “plussing” to Happily Ever After. The huge searchlights have once again returned at the beginning of the show.

That breathtaking moment as the Happily Ever After begins with “And they all lived Happily Ever After”, huge searchlights illuminated behind Cinderella Castle. This upgrade truly set the stage for the fireworks, and we love it!

Along with the searchlights, Cinderella Castle is illuminated with backlighting that really makes this show even more mesmerizing than before. We love these small changes that make this show even more magical.

We love how small upgrades can add to the magic at the Disney Parks. Happily Ever After is such a wonderful show, and just in true Walt fashion they “plussed it up”.
