runDisney has recently made a change to their upcoming 2024-2025 race season. Has this change affected how fast other races sell out?
runDisney
runDisney adds the activity of running to our favorite place, Disney! There are four runDisney event weekends in Walt Disney World, virtual races you can complete anywhere you would like, and two in Disneyland!
Be sure to check our complete guides to runDisney in part 1 (registration and planning) and part 2 (expo and race day).
I (Heather) love runDisney events. They are unlike any other race you will experience, from the atmosphere to the on-course entertainment.
Some Virtual Events Removed
For the 2024-2025 race season, there will be no virtual option for in-person events. runDisney will only offer the runDisney Virtual Series and the runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Christmas.
No virtual option will be offered for in-person events, which means no virtual Marathon Weekend, Princess Weekend, or even Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.
This means runDisney athletes have to complete the races in person to earn their medals. You can read more about the removal of the virtual option HERE.
Quick Sell Out
On Tuesday, March 26th the runDisney Virtual Series for 2024, a Snacktacular Celebration, went on sale. Historically, virtual events did not sell out on the first day. In fact, they wouldn’t sell out until much later, even being open for many days to even months.
All individual 5K virtual events have sold out. At the time of this writing, the only remaining available event is the Pineapple Whip Soft Serve Challenge.
The three individual 5Ks sold out quickly on registration day. It was reported that some races sold out in under an hour! This is a record pace, even for a virtual runDisney event.
It certainly seems that the removal of some virtual events has put an increased demand on the virtual events that remain. Or could it have been the fun snack themes that got everyone’s attention?
Did you register for any of the virtual events? Did the removal of some of the virtual options make you more likely to register for any of these events? Or, did you love the snack themes? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to share this post with your friends!
