You plan your dream Walt Disney World Resort vacation and then find yourself in the most bizarre power outage. This may be a first even for Disney standards. We promise this is not an April Fools prank!
Disney Resorts
Disney Guests have many options to choose from when planning to stay at Walt Disney World Resorts. There are many factors to consider including price, location, resort amenities, and perks available for select guests such as Extended Evening Hours.
All Walt Disney World Resort guests can enjoy Early Theme Park Entry and free Disney transportation. There are some great reasons to stay on property. However, even while staying inside the “Disney Bubble” the unexpected can still occur.
We have seen this in the past with chemical emergencies to even flooding. Walt Disney World does a great job balancing guest safety while also minimizing inconveniences for guests. At times, evacuations cannot be avoided.
Bizarre Power Outage
Last night, March 31, guests staying at Pop Century experienced a bizarre light show of sorts. From accounts online, it appears that around 11:00 pm last night the lights began to flicker on and off across the entire Pop Century Resort.
All lights from outdoor lighting to main hall lighting and Guest room lighting would all turn on, flicker, and then turn off. This was on repeat for quite some time.
As you guessed it, this caused major issues for guests. Many guests were awakened to this chaos along with guests just returning from a long day in the parks. Get a look at the bizarre scene thanks to @FairyTaleMindy:
Resolution
The flickering lasted for quite some time and finally, the entire resort became dark. It appears that power was restored around midnight. Cast Members did not know what caused this bizarre power outage.
Flickering and then a complete power outage affected Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
When the power did finally come back on, many guests reported that their air conditioning was no longer working. At this time, we do not have reports this has been corrected.

Wow! That would definitely be an interesting way to end your night at Disney. We stayed at Pop in 2022 and loved it there. Having a Skyliner stop at the resort has instantly upgraded it in my opinion. I can't imagine what could've caused this, but it's true that anything can happen, even within the Disney bubble. :) -Lindsey https://resortrat.com/
