Today is a big day! Shareholders have cast their votes and the results are in for the Disney Board.
Board Nominees
The face-off between Disney and investor Nelson Peltz has come to an end. Today, April 3rd shareholders voted on the Disney Board nominees.
Peltz was trying for a seat for himself and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo. Peltz did not support the reappointment of Bob Iger in 2022.
This is not the first time Peltz has been after a seat on Disney’s board. He made a 2023 proxy attempt to gain a seat. However, Iger argued that he lacked expertise and recommended shareholders discard their ballots.

Results
The shareholder vote results were the first thing on the agenda for the 2024 Annual Shareholder Meeting.
The shareholders voted and have elected Disney’s full state of 12 directors “by a substantial margin.” Peltz has lost and will not receive a seat on the board.
Disney stated, “Final voting tallies are subject to certification by the Company’s independent inspector of elections, and preliminary and final results will be included in the Company’s reports to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the coming days.”
Iger’s Statement
At the beginning of the shareholder meeting, Bob Iger released a statement regarding the proxy contest. See his statement below:
“With the distracting proxy contest now behind us, we’re eager to focus 100% of our attention on our most important priorities: growth and value creation for our shareholders and creative excellence for our consumers.”
-Bob Iger
Peltz addresses shareholders and stated, “Regardless of the outcome of today’s vote, Trian will be watching the company’s performance.”
Many are happy with the results of this vote and victory for Disney, as they felt Peltz was not a good fit for the Disney board.
