Disney is creating a live-action version of the hit movie, Moana. Unfortunately, the release date has been pushed back significantly. See the new date here.
Moana
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped, and no one knows why.
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana is about an adventurous teenager who, with help from demigod Maui, sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and save her people.
With most successful cartoon movies, Disney wants to turn it into a live-action film. And, they are planning to do just that!
Original Release Date
In the upcoming live-action Moana remake Auli’i Cravalho will be an executive producer instead of playing Moana. Dwayne Johnson will serve as producer and lend his voice to Maui once again.
Way back in June of 2023, Disney shared the live-action Moana would hit theaters on June 27, 2025. You can read that news story HERE.
But, like most films, that date has now been pushed back.
New Release Date
In fact, we will have to wait a whole extra year! Now, the film will be releaed on July 10, 2026. Thankfully, Moana 2 has not been pushed back. That one is still set for November 27, 2024.
The live-action Moana will be released in theaters on July 10, 2026.
Today, we also learned when the fifth installment of Toy Story will be released. Mark your calendars for that date, which can be found HERE.
