Disney+ has seen many changes over the years and many for the better. Now a new change is on the horizon that looks a lot like cable TV. What do you think of this possible change?
Disney+ Changes
Disney+ has been the streaming platform of choice for many Disney fans for the past few years. Last month, Disney+ and Hulu merged and subscribers noticed a few changes.
This is not the only change for Disney+ since it first started streaming in 2019. Subscribers have experienced price increases, along with new tiers for ad-free subscriptions and ad-supported subscriptions.
Disney CEO, Bob Iger, also hinted that Diseny+ will begin “cracking down on account sharing.” Originally planned to begin in March 2024, this timeline is now extended to the relief of many subscribers.
Big Possible Change
According to “The Verge”, Disney+ is looking to add “always-on channels”. At the time of this writing, such channels could include Star Wars and Marvel shows. There is also a possibility for animated and even possibly Pixar programming.
This would be a big shift for Disney+ and this sounds quite a bit like Cable television. This would include ad-supported programming similar to Cable television.
At this time, Disney has not confirmed this new shift in programming.
Why the possible change?
Disney CEO, Bob Iger, has spearheaded many changes for Disney+ since his return to the Walt Disney Company in 2021. In May 2023, Disney executives removed many favorite titles from Disney+.
Rumors indicate that Disney+ will soon include “always-on channels”.
These changes along with the merger with Hulu, are all to “Keep moving forward.” It is possible that these new “always-on channels” could be the next way to move forward for Disney+.
