Work Coming Soon to Journey Into Imagination with Figment

We often cringe when we hear about changes, but this may be the change EPCOT needs right now. Find out what we know so far about Journey into Imagination with Figment.

Figment is a small purple dragon that is a figment of everyone’s imagination. On March 5, 1983, the brand new attraction, “Journey Into the Imagination” opened at FutureWorld in Epcot. It introduced and featured both Figment and the Dreamfinder.

There is no doubt that Figment is still quite popular with Disney adults as his cult-like following hasn’t slowed down. Last fall, Figment began greeting guests at EPCOT.

Some guests still enjoy the Journey into Imagination with Figment attraction at EPCOT, but the attraction is not nearly as popular as Figment himself.

Figment first indicated that he was up to something last November. Figment posted a reel sharing his day at Disney Imagineering collecting ideas for his book of imagination.

Many wondered what “spark of inspiration” he may acquire, and now a permit has us imagining what may be on the horizon.

A new building permit was recently filed indicating 1990 Avenue of the Stars which is the Journey Into Imagination Pavilion. Technically, this “general construction” could include any aspect from the actual attraction, to the interactive elements, or even behind-the-scenes work.

Indication of a Big Change

What causes us to think this may be a fairly big job is the expiration date for this permit. Typically expiration dates are set for a year, but this is extended even longer until November 28, 2025.

Disney has teased a change for Figment, but no official word has yet been announced. Many times, permits are filed, and soon after Disney surprises us with a big announcement.
