One benefit of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is complimentary transportation. Check out the current transportation closure that may alter your travel plans.
Disney Transportation
There are many differing opinions on transportation options, largely depending upon which Disney Resort you are staying at and also which Park you will be visiting. The Walt Disney World Resort is HUGE and many questions revolve around which is the quickest mode of transportation to arrive at each Park.
From the Skyliner, buses, ferry boats, and of course the monorail there are many options for Resort Guests to arrive at each of the Walt Disney World Parks. Choosing the fastest and most efficient form of transportation is key to a peaceful visit. You can see a full review of each form of Disney transportation HERE.
At times delays and transportation closures cannot be avoided and guests need to be aware of these changes.
Current Closure
With many guests choosing to fly to Florida, a transportation closure can definitely change plans. Guests prepare for rainy days at the parks, but many guests may not plan for low water levels in Florida.
Select resorts in the Disney Springs Resort Area can enjoy a complimentary water taxi to Disney Springs. This includes the following Disney Resorts: Disney’s Old Key West, Disney’s Saratoga Springs, Disney’s Port Orleans- Riverside, and also Disney Port Orleans- French Quarter.
At this time, this Disney Springs water taxi is closed due to low water levels. This is a bit inconvenient for guests hoping to visit other resorts along this taxi route and visit Disney Springs.
How does this affect guests?
The closure went into effect on April 27, 2024. A Cast Member estimates that the Disney Springs water taxi will be closed for several days. This could change, but it is good to keep this possible timeline in mind if you will be visiting soon.
The Disney Springs Water Taxi is now unavailable to guests.
Bus transportation is available for guests while the Sassagoula Watercraft is currently unavailable. Many guests stay at these resorts for this fun amenity. We hope that the water levels will return to normal soon.
