Big Thunder Mountain Attraction
Local legend has it that strange things began to occur following the discovery of gold in the 1850s. Reportedly, trains would move and race through tunnels by themselves. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can explore an abandoned mine shaft and board a train at the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Attraction.
This attraction is a favorite among Disney fans and Guests, and it’s no surprise why. It is one of the fastest roller coasters with bumps and dark thrills.
Don’t miss the “Wildest ride in the wilderness!”
Be prepared to dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders as the train speeds along the rickety tracks. This attraction is a favorite among visitors of Disney parks due to its high speeds and thrilling bumps and turns.
Refurbishment Details
Big Thunder Mountain was originally scheduled to undergo major refurbishment in 2020, but due to COVID, it only received a minor refurbishment.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will receive a major refurbishment soon!
According to the cast members, the refurbishment will involve moving the tower and replacing some or all of the track. The final scene may also be upgraded.
What Does This Mean to You?
With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening on June 28, this refurbishment will take place later in the year.
Update: Our sources have confirmed this major refurbishment won’t take place until January or February 2025!
