Approval for Expansion

It is one thing to have big dreams and money for a project, and it is quite another to gain approval for big expansion plans. One thing that Walt Disney seemed to regret about Disneyland was the luxury of space.

When Walt Disney looked at his “Florida Project” he dreamed big and Walt Disney World now rests on 30,080 acres. With a little ingenuity and a lot of hard work, Disneyland developed a creative way to expand with the DisneylandForward initiative.

After several rounds of votes before the Anaheim City Council, last night the final approval was made. With this new “multi-use” zoning, Disneyland can now expand without purchasing new land.

The Walt Disney Company hopes that this new expansion will not only help the Disneyland Resort but it will also help to rebuild the economy of Anaheim.

The DisneylandForward presentation years ago included concept art from Disney theme park projects around the globe. It offered “possibilities” of what future expansion could look like at the Disneyland Resort.
