Themed after the South Pacific with sandy beaches, lush vegetation, and tiki torches, Disney’s Polynesian is highly sought after by guests. It’s like taking a Hawaiian vacation in the middle of Florida with all the Disney perks.

The resort is located on the monorail, directly across the Magic Kingdom on the Seven Seas Lagoon. It is one of the pricier Disney World Resorts because it is categorized as a deluxe resort.

Unfortunately, the Polynesian experienced a major leak late last night, May 7. Here is what we know about it so far.

According to a video that was posted overnight, the Polynesian experienced a leak/flood in the first floor gift shop, called BouTiki. In the video you can see water raining down from the ceiling.

Unfortunately, it appears hundreds of items of merchandise are completely ruined due to the leak.

This gift shop is directly located under the second floor restrooms and restaurants. It appears that, thankfully, this is not a sewage issue. Take a look at the video below:

Due to the leak at the gift shop, which is directly under the second floor restaurants, reservations are reportedly being canceled. It’s also safe to assume the gift shop is also closed.

From what we have seen via online reports, ‘Ohana is forced to cancel its reservations. No word on if Kona Island and/or Kona Cafe operations are affected as well. We hope the issue is resolved soon and resort operations can resume.
